South Coast textile and print artist Helena Geiger brings her exquisite expertise in batik printing to Jamboree, infused with her indigenous heritage and design influence.
This workshop will teach the beautiful process of batik design and printing, using wax resistance, with options to print fabric, silk scarves and calico bags.
Helena is of Aboriginal and Austrian heritage, and is self taught in Batik and Textile Dyeing. Her love of textiles and Indigenous art has inspired her to create her own range of Textile Designs for furnishings and fashion, and she also hand draws designs for individual Silk & Cotton Scarves & Sarongs.
Her “Batik artwork” has been exhibited widely in Sydney andAdelaide and is in private collections throughout Australia, NZ, the UK &USA. In 2012 she was shortlisted for the NSW Parliament Aboriginal Art Prize and was exhibited in Regional Galleries throughout NSW.
She moved to the South Coast in 2016 and works full time from her studio in Jervis Bay.
