We welcome Linda Kennedy and Nathan Leslie to Jamboree in 2019 to host their rich, deeply moving Mapping & Story-Telling experience, under their creative collaboration of Nin and Nate. This workshop focuses on Aboriginal story-telling through drawing and iconography, dance and storytelling. Participants will be introduced to Aboriginal iconography and guided to express their own journey. This experience supports a culturally safe space for people to share their story and will root people deeper to their own personal histories and connection to place.
Nin and Nate is the creative collaboration between Linda Kennedy (Yuin) and Nathan Leslie (Gamilaraay). Linda is also the founder of Future Black Design, a design studio that advocates for an overall shift in design process, design thinking and design practice to place value on Black ways of knowing and doing as an integral priority. Nathan is an accomplished contemporary dancer and has performed extensively including at Yabun Festival, BlakDance, and uses his dance form to mentor in and work with children, young people and adults to draw out stories, cultural understandings and the sharing of knowledge.
